MAPC (Metropolitan Area Planning Council) appointed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with developing a forward-thinking, comprehensive regional plan to guide the entire 101-cities and towns for 30 years.

The regional plan requires a new visual identity and should resonate with the region’s stakeholders so that they participate
in the development and update process.

The MetroFuture visual identity was developed as a flexible and forward-thinking system, capturing the nature of the planning process and using it to set a vision for the future. This is also reflected by combining the wordmark with the year by which the plan goals are intended to be achieved.

The regional plan update will encompass five themes for the vision of the region. These themes are not silos, but rather interdisciplinary issues that cut across the region and each other. As such, a mosaic of symbols was created to illustrate the themes as a collection, rather than a one-to-one representation of each theme.
